OUR TEAM

Founder
Crystal Hambright
Crystal is a United States Navy Veteran whose life is defined by service, resilience, and purpose.
From serving aboard the USS George Washington (CVN-73) to supporting military families overseas in Guam and later working complex claims for veterans, Crystal has dedicated her life to lifting others up. Her journey—from active duty to advocacy—has always centered on one mission: serving those who serve.
But her greatest calling came through her role as a mother and military spouse. Through years of moving, supporting, and building a life within the military community, Crystal witnessed something powerful—children of service members are quietly carrying their own battles, and they deserve a place where they feel strong, seen, and supported.
That realization became The Real Heroes.
What began as a passion for motocross and family has grown into a movement—one that uses the sport to build confidence, connection, and courage in military children. Crystal founded The Real Heroes to create a space where kids can grow stronger, ride together, and know they are not alone.

Volunteer Director of Operations, Parnerships & Program Development
Madison Hambright
Madison’s story is one of resilience, rebuilding, and purpose.
Raised in motocross, Madison learned early what it means to work hard, fall, get back up, and keep going. After experiencing the loss of his father at a young age, life forced him to step away from the sport that once defined him. But in time, motocross became more than just a sport again—it became a path forward.
Through determination and grit, Madison built a life centered on hard work and family. He spent years operating heavy equipment, using those skills to give back to the motocross community by building tracks and supporting riders. One of his greatest contributions was creating and building the Down to Earth MX track in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania—now known as Steel Town MX—a place that continues to bring riders together.
Today, Madison is a father of four boys and lives out his greatest role—being present, being intentional, and being the kind of father and mentor he once needed.
Through The Real Heroes, Madison pours that same heart into every rider he meets, helping kids discover confidence, discipline, and the strength to keep moving forward—on and off the track.

Volunteer Director of Partnerships & Rider Development Mentor
Gavin Kerns
Gavin understands military life from every angle—child, service member, and parent.
Raised in a military family, he grew up moving across the country and overseas, learning early what it means to adapt, to sacrifice, and to carry on. That foundation led him to serve in the United States Navy aboard the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN-69) and as part of the Ceremonial Guard at Arlington National Cemetery, where he honored those who gave everything in service.
Today, Gavin continues that legacy in his own family. As a Navy Veteran married to an active-duty Air Force service member, he is raising his twin boys in the same environment that shaped him—one built on service, resilience, and strength.
His life is a reflection of what The Real Heroes stands for: the past, present, and future of military families coming together through shared experience, purpose, and community.

Secretary, Board of Directors
Volunteer Director of Community Engagement & Family Programs
Rachel Jordan
Rachel carries the strength of both a warrior and a mother.
As an Army Veteran, Rachel deployed to Iraq, where she experienced firsthand the demands and sacrifices of military service. But her journey didn’t end when she returned home—it transformed. As the spouse of a Navy SEAL, she stepped into a life of uncertainty, strength, and unwavering support, holding her family together through deployments and long separations.
Rachel understands what it means to carry the weight of service on the home front—and to raise children who are shaped by that life.
Her connection to The Real Heroes is deeply personal. She has witnessed the power of motocross to bring families together, to create joy, and to give children something powerful to believe in.
As a leader within the organization, Rachel helps build the bridges that allow The Real Heroes to grow—securing partnerships, building community, and ensuring that more children have the opportunity to experience the strength and belonging that this mission provides.

Treasurer, Board of Directors
Volunteer Director of Financial Operations
Stephen Garrasi
Stephen brings a steady, grounded presence to The Real Heroes—built on discipline, experience, and heart.
Growing up as one of six children, Stephen learned early what it means to do more with less, to take responsibility seriously, and to look out for the people around you. Those lessons shaped not only who he is, but how he leads—with care, accountability, and integrity.
After serving in the United States Navy, Stephen carried those same values into his professional life and into his role within the foundation. While he does not have children of his own, he has found a deep sense of purpose within the military community—especially during motocross ride days, where he naturally stepped into a mentorship role.
In those moments, Stephen became more than a supporter—he became a trusted presence for the kids, offering encouragement, guidance, and stability.
As Treasurer, Stephen ensures that The Real Heroes operates with transparency and purpose, helping protect and sustain the mission so it can continue to grow and impact lives for years to come.
